Horse Chestnut Tree – Aesculus hippocastanum

The Horse Chestnut is a large deciduous fast-growing tree most easily recognised by it’s pendulous branches, large leaves and broad domed crown.

The creamy white flowers that appear on the Horse chestnut in May are a valuable nectar source for bees.  Early Autumn bring the spiky fruit of the tree which is known as the Conker.
